Fulfilling potential
Tigh a’Chomainn is an intentional community for adults with special needs, who live together with co-workers as an extended family in all aspects of daily life. It is a stable, safe place with good human connections.
As a Camphill Community we appreciate the uniqueness of individuals and their particular spiritual and personal qualities. We recognises the fundamental importance of human relationship as the basis for social and emotional growth.
Residents are supported to explore their personal potential and to develop their sense of purpose and direction in life. They are encouraged to develop their understanding and skills so that those who wish to do so can move on to greater independence. Other residents may regard Tigh a’Chomainn as their permanent home.
Tigh a’Chomainn is a base from which people can venture out into the world and where friends are welcomed. It has strong connections with other Camphill communities. Its social and cultural activities attract visitors and friends from Camphill and also from the local Peterculter community.
Residents are usually expected to have some measure of independence in personal care, domestic capability and self reliance.
All aspects of care at Tigh a’Chomainn are determined in the light of the individual’s developing maturity.
